We had a report of a number of problematic edits by a number of users in India. These weren’t spam or vandalism; they just weren’t very good quality (unsquared buildings was one example). We’ve contacted the users concerned and have had some replies, but not to all the questions that we have asked. Some of those replies came from cyient.com email addresses, so naturally we asked whether Cyient was involved in organised edits within OSM (if so, they should be following the guidelines). We didn’t get a reply to that question.
For the avoidance of doubt, it is entirely possible that this isn’t an “organised editing” activity at all - it may just be some friends who happen to work for the same large company wanting to improve OSM. However, Cyient are a GIS company, and they’re llsted as a member at Overture maps, so it’s entirely plausible that they might want to do some organised editng of OSM like other Overture members do (many of who are also corporate members of OSMF as well, of course, and have contributed many valuable edits to OSM data).
