I make a lot of riding with off-road motorcycles. When I look at the map, some of the areas off-road are coloured heavily green. Some of them have large white pieces on them. At first I assume this was to do with the type of terrain, greenery v “barren” However if you look at these examples on the map, there isn’t much difference between the terrains. Would somebody tell me what the actual colours exactly mean? I understand that the terrain may have changed over time, but I’m not exactly convinced by my own thoughts. Thanks
The green is woods or forest, the blank is where no land use or land cover has been mapped. It doesn’t mean barren necessarily, just unmapped.
The forest shape was originally added 14 years ago. It has been untouched since last edited 11 years ago. The original source was given as geodata.gov.gr
(If you are curious about other areas, all this information is available by editing the map e.g. in the iD browser editor).
