I am new to streetmap. I would like to edit some of the mainroads in Bangkok to the latin alfabeth. I have been in the editormode, but do not see how to change the thai text?

If you trying to edit the contents of “name” tag in Thai, you should not do that. It’s original name, and it should be in Thai. English names should be in name:en tag.
So, please, read this https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Names and follow the links to “Multilingual names” and so on, before making any changes.
Note there are some OSM based maps that show the names in English.
