Announcing the Meet Your Mappers tool - find local mappers around you

Hi all,

I made a completely new version of the Meet Your Mappers tool. It lets you discover active mappers around you. I wrote a blog post about it if you want to find out more. I also updated the wiki page.

I will briefly talk about this tool at the State of the Map US conference in June. The draft schedule was just published.

Thank you, @mvexel! The previous iteration of this tool was very helpful and this improved version seems even better. Filtering for changesets in the past year is great for finding currently active mappers instead of mappers who did a lot of work 10 years ago but haven’t been involved recently. In some cases it might be nice to be able to choose the time range as well. So for high activity areas you could look over just the last six months and for low activity areas maybe look over the past several years.

Great job. I like the feature to sort by last edit!

need to click “meet my mappers” was something that I missed on the first view

Yes, thanks for pointing out this tool. I looked at this one before but it did not do what I needed. Most importantly it cannot output a list. I also don’t like that it’s not open source. But if it suits your needs, that’s great! It’s good to have options.

That would be great. Currently I only keep data for 1 year (it’s running on a small machine…) but this is just a practical constraint.

I received a report that logging in via OSM does not work.

I have not been able to reproduce this on Firefox Mac or Linux, but if you see the same error, please respond to the linked issue with as much detail as possible.
