Address inquirey for Odessa

Hello.

I have some confusion regarding address sources in Ukraine. For example, the address is: вулиця Пастера 9, Одесса which in OSM is here https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/388346597, but in the source I found it is here https://maps.visicom.ua/c/30.72531,46.49178,19/f/ADR3K9D5Y83X4X9YCS?lang=en. Unfortunately I have no other data except what the driver says that the correct location is in the hospital area.
Is there anyone who could guide me to a better source than the one above if there is one or how to proceed as best practices in these situations?

Скоріш за все в OSM помилкова адреса. Але це не привід для копіювання адрес с Візікому. Зазвичай джерелом адресної інформації є кадастр, наприклад, цей ресурс: https://kadastr.live. Але саме ця ділянка там відсутня. Тому гарним рішенням було б перевірити адресу на місці. Або можливо є якійсь місцевий геопортал з одеськими адресами

There’s still no one official source of data for addresses in Ukraine. you can use and compare several:

  • UkrPoshta
  • Kadastr
  • OSM
  • other sources
    Just remember that you are obliged not to copy info from copyright sources.

Way: 388346597 | OpenStreetMap — Кінна вулиця, 9, addr:street="вулиця Пастера" додана помилково користувачем herman17 | OpenStreetMap у Changeset: 119018251 | OpenStreetMap

Way: 160599363 | OpenStreetMap, Way: 388346597 | OpenStreetMap та будинок між ними (який не позначений в OSM) — це будинки, що поєднанні за адресою Кінна вулиця, 9.

Visicom можна використовувати як інформативне джерело, але це не може бути джерелом інформації для внесення змін в OSM. Наприклад, поряд з цим будинком є Way: 160599361 | OpenStreetMap який за адресою вулиця Пастера, 36, та позначений в OSM коректно, але у Visicom це адреса вулиця Пастера, 38. Будинок за адресою вулиця Пастера 38: в OSM це Way: 160599357 | OpenStreetMap, а у Visicom це частина будинку вулиця Пастера, 40.

Основні джерела інформації щодо адрес: інформація в документах по будинках, чи витяг з реєстрів щодо них та кадастр, у тому числі https://kadastr.live. Якщо між документами та кадастром є розбіжності, беруться до уваги документи. Все інше, у тому числі Укрпошта, не є джерелами інформації щодо адрес, а є лише збірниками чи базою даних.

I’ve conducted a bit of an investigation and that has produced a result. Thanks to the memorial plaque dedicated to Illia Mechnykov that can be seen on this building on some photos I could identify it as Katynskyi’s Revenue House and it is listed as 36 Pastera St. - same as the streetside building nearby. The contributor who’s previously marked it as 9 Pastera St. has mixed the correct street name with the house number of the building on Kinna St.
As for the building located on the Southern corner of Kinna St. and Pastera St. it seems that it should be connected to the original building in question without merging.

Unfortunately address information in Ukraine is often rather convoluted and many places and even neighborhoods might have significantly different addressing conventions. Even a combination of local knowledge, street-level imagery, digging through the cadastre and zipcode databases and interpolation based on a progression pattern can’t always reliably solve.

Hi Alex,
Yes, I am informed that copyright resources are not accepted and used in OSM. Is the first case I got as such address issue and wanted to check for best practices. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for such a comprehensive explanation. I checked and noticed that Way: 388346597 | OpenStreetMap Pastera 9 has been converted for Pastera 36. I will use the valuable information you shared for future cases.
