Hello,
I asked the Rhode Island GIS agency if OpenStreetMap would be allowed to use the E911 database in RI GIS to connect house addresses to footprints. The database is E-911 Sites
URI (the university who works with this GIS dataset) replied with the following email:
The clarifying answer is yes, you do have permission to use this data. We did check with the attorney for the company that produces this data. His comment is below:
They are fine to use our E911 data from RIGIS for OpenStreetMaps with this condition: Based on my review it seems that it can be used if we are sited as the producer but we do not warrant its accuracy as it was made for 911 purposes and using it for anything else is at their own risk.
My question is: How would I go about adding this credit so we can start using this in Rhode Island?
Pinging @ZeLonewolf because I know you edit a lot in RI too and you might be interested in this if you’re not aware. I’ve been walking up and down the streets of Newport to fill in addresses and decided to reach out to URI and see if we can use this dataset.
