2022 OSM Foundation election - Submission of questions to board candidates is open

Hello,

There will be an OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF) board election and an Annual General Meeting in December 2022. Please see the two links at the end of this post for more information.

Submission of community questions to the OSMF board candidates is open at Talk:Foundation/AGM2022/Election to Board - OpenStreetMap Wiki until 1 November at 23:59 UTC.

The official set of questions, which candidates will be asked to answer, will be based on the questions by the community and questions from previous years. The questioning process will be facilitated by Mike Collinson.

To post a question you need to have an account on the OSM wiki, which is different from your OSM account. Create an OSM wiki account here.

Please sign and date your questions by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your messages.

For OSM Foundation board candidates

Submission of self-nominations on the OSM wiki will start this Saturday, 15 October 2022, and will close on 22 October 2022 (23:59 UTC). Please see the OSM wiki for more information.

Becoming a member of the OSM Foundation

You can become an OpenStreetMap Foundation member even for free, if you are an active OSM contributor. Find out more at https://join.osmfoundation.org/ Please note that if you become an OSMF member now, you will not be eligible to vote or be a board candidate at this election. You will probably be eligible at the next board election and, of course, you can still post questions which could be added to the official set of questions to the 2022 OSMF board candidates.

Are there plans to use these new forums as a platform for doing an AMA with candidates or other types of engagements?

I think it would be interesting and it would allow anyone with an OSM account to directly engage in the process in their own language (thanks to the translation feature).

Cheers.

Hello,

Are there plans to use these new forums as a platform for doing an AMA with candidates or other types of engagements?

There are no plans of the OSM Foundation (OSMF) for an “ask us anything” live session with the board candidates this year, as the process for the 2022 board election and the questioning process have already been announced.

Please note that many past board elections included open questioning of the candidates. This was changed in 2018, when the board favored facilitated questioning, where a facilitator provides an official set of questions to the board candidates, based on questions by the community and questions from past years.

The board can, of course, change the process in the future.
