I just added this Three Wise Men mailbox to the map. I guess xmas:feature=santas-letterbox is the appropriate tagging in this case. The Three Wise Men are the equivalent of Santa Claus in Spain. They bring gifts for children on January 6.

A small clarification: in Russia, too, some people celebrate Christmas, but it is celebrated on January 7th. And the new year is much more common and is celebrated on the night of December 31 to January 1.

I have added to the map a lot of Christmas objects this year, including trees, lighting, cribs, markets and even an ice rink (unusual in Malaga except at Christmas). Next year I will check them and maybe add some new ones.

In the Corona Pandemic, one or the other Christmas objects were deleted from OSM because they did not take place in those years. Sometimes also unintentionally or unfortunately deleted on purpose. But a new object can also only have been created by editing.

Yes, I used that to get the data for 2020-01-13 and 2020-12-19. Overpass took a long time to deliver the data so I’m loading it from a static json file. But thank you

Hi,

Last weekend I started to update the data related to Christmas in Malaga, Spain. I have already updated some Christmas trees and markets, lighting and Santa Claus / Three Wise Men letterboxes. I have also created a post in my OSM diary and a thread in Mastodon to encourage others to collaborate in the update.

P.S.: I have found a bug in XMAS-Map. It doesn’t link correctly to images in Commons when the filename includes apostrophes ('). For example, this Santa Claus letterbox:
