Clifford from DWG here. We received an inquiry about house addresses being incorrect in Derby. The report stated “342 Duffield Road is the Southernmost property of two semi-detached properties. You are displaying it as the northernmost.” See Way: 344116331 | OpenStreetMap
Could someone familiar with the area verify and correct the addresses as needed?
The address is wrong, and all addresses go out of sync heading north from this approx point.
I used Google Streetview to get this info, so another source is needed to correct the whole road. I assume the specific address can be fixed due to the information sent DWG?
Think many of us can make a guess as to what gone wrong simply by looking at the map? (link). Used spoiler so you can give it a bit of thought.
My guess is that the mapper was on autopilot and adding addresses on the assumption that Number increased by two with each house. But 336 is back from the road (link), and was missed, meaning from that point all houses are +2 out.
Beg your pardon I was wrong. I can now see where the mistake was made. I think there’s a further mistake up the road, 370 and 372 allocated to one house. I suppose to correct the numbering sequence going north. My info from the Derbyshire County Map, I don’t know if this can be used in OSM?
I’ve managed to fix some of the addresses further north by finding house numbers 352, 345, and 360 on Mapillary, and then interpolating between them. But that still leaves 336-346 further south. I’m not sure I’ve got enough evidence from usable sources to adjust those at the moment.
