I’ve been adding elevation values to bodies of water. Some bodies of water are naturally mapped as an MP (because they contain islands which need to be cut out), but otherwise bodies of water, by their very nature, have a uniform elevation above sea level. However, our wiki page on ele=* states that ele can be added to areas but not multipolygons. Is there a specific reason for that or should this be changed?

I’m not seeing anything about forbidding it on multipolygons. The symbols in the infobox say it can’t be used on relations, but multipolygons are considered a type of area, not a type of relation (even if, technically, they’re implemented as relations).
