Why doesn't OpenCycleMap render cycleway=track as cycleway=lane

OpenCycleMap only renders cycleway=lane. I think it would be beneficial for cyclists if cycleway=track would be rendered the same way. The lane is shown very nicely and compact with the dark blue edges. The cyclists experience on a cycle track along the street is better or equal to a cycle lane. So information to cyclists would be better.

In Denmark we have lots of streets with cycle tracks following the street on both sides separated from the car area by a kerb, so the street is tagged cycleway=track according to http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Bicycle T1 alternative recommendation. Unfortunately this does not show up on OpenCycleMap. Tagging the street with cycleway=lane would be a loss of information as there is a kerb between. And it would not make sense to create separate ways for the cycle tracks as they follow the street closely.

Ah, the old “in Denmark we don’t use separate ways”. I’ve never really got around to adding the rendering for this, since in so many other places the extra detail of being able to specify exactly where the cycle track is means that people just add in separate ways. But there was a massive edit war about this a year or two ago in Denmark, with both sides coming to me complaining about the rendering, so I simply put it on the back burner and didn’t want to add fuel to the fire. Things haven’t changed much since then.

Andy, I certainly appreciate your work with OpenCycleMap. There is consensus in Denmark to map streets with cycle tracks following the street on both sides separated from the car area by a kerb, by tagging the street with cycleway=track. I checked with the DK community. It is also documented in danish on http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Da:Cykelstivejledning. There are now 91921 cycleway=track tags. So I do hope that you will prioritize this. The information and usefulness of OpenCycleMap would in one step increase a lot.
