Why do OpenStreetMap maps not reflect the OpenAEDMap APP?

Hi,

New here, hoping somebody can help as soon as possible please

Is the openAEDmap android APP the same as openstreetmaps? if it is, why does the content on openAEDMap reflect in the openstreetmap?

openAEDmap also does not give the open to delete an AED …

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I’m guessing you’re talking about the Android app linked from https://openaedmap.org. Assuming that the app content is the same as the website content, that seems to show defibrillators highlighted over OSM “standard” map tiles.

The map tiles are exactly the same, so I’d expect the content to be exactly the same, except for the clickable defibrillators.

What that app does or does not allow is something that you’d have to discuss with the author of that app. (it’s unrelated to OpenStreetMap other than it is using OSM data). However, from the web page you can click through to view in OSM and then do whatever you like with it (including, if it is in the wrong place, move it).

Regards,

Andy

Do you mean AED Map app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.enteam.aed_map which is linked from openaedmap.org?

AFAIK it should have the same data as OpenStreetMap in terms of defibrillators.
Can you give an example of discrepancy?

Currently we don’t support removing AEDs. We definitely could. It’s quite easy technically but not obvious in terms of UX as we tend to have a lot of beginners in mapping.

Hi,

Yes, you are the perfect person to help me. So you answered my first question, the two are linked.

I need to be able to delete AED’s as an option, or at least request admin to do so, with a reason, maybe this assist with learners making mistakes. (I know now how to add them)

Also an option to say “under maintenance” in RED? These would be great. I will be promoting the app to the community, I just need to ensure all the data is correct.

Is this something you could assist me with?

Sorry!! could you also allow me to relocate them? We are a cardiac first responder group so this App is crucial to us, thanks a mill

Unfortunately the map rendering most of us use does not show AEDs. The data exists, but not shown. Likely for historic reasons.

If you go to the AED location in Openstreetmap, you can edit it if you create an account. The AED should be visible as a node. If you want to do this on a phone, a tool such as Vespucci will enable this.

Hi Adrian, Many thanks.
I have an account with Openstreetmaps. I can add or edit them, save the changes but the changes are not reflected in the OpenAEDMap.
Is there anything you can suggest? Thanks. Linda

Hi Linda. AEDs that I’ve mapped show in the OpenAEDmap that I use, so I don’t know what to suggest. Do you have some locations of AEDs you’ve mapped? Just to see if something is different?

The question there is when did you map them, & how often does the OpenAEDMap update?

Hi, thank you. Very true, how often does OpenAEDMap update…
I have edited and made changes to the Openstreetmaps so hopefully they will reflect in the maps.
I will check in the morning
I will keep you all updated.

Thanks for all your help today

Linda

This MapComplete theme allows you to reposition and delete defibrillators:

(the changes will be picked up by openAEDMap after a while, as discussed above)

Hi,

This is brilliant thanks so much. All AED locations corrected. Can you tell me who annekaro is? some of the AED have pictures, which is great

Hi,

Could you please tell me how often the openAEDMap is refreshed? Once the changes I have made are reflected in the openAEDMap, I can continue the project with the community. if you could let me know

Thanks
