Ghostbikes are entered historic:memorial memorial: ghost_bike
In apps like CoMaps, Organic Maps or OsmAnd the entries shows as memorial. But osm.org does not show the entry with an icon when viewing the map. The entry does show when switching to edit mode and can also be found when searching for `Ghostbike`.
Wouldn’t it be worth considering to show them in Mapnik? Apparently many app makers feel, this information does not clutter the map too much and is showing the info along with an icon. Personally I believe it is valuable information and should be visible on the map.

Do you have an example of an area where you expect the icon to appear but it does not?
It does around here:

Are you, by any chance, referring to an very recently added ghostbike?
example: Node: Ghostbike (13483496097) | OpenStreetMap
Fairly recent as in 10 days old.
Found when searched for but not shown on map:

It appears for me - maybe a cache issue?

On a different note, is its name actually Ghostbike, or is that a description?

You are right, Ghostbike is not a name but a type of memorial.

Cleared cache, no luck. Showing in Firefox on desktop, not showing in Zen on desktop. Not showing on Firefox on android.
Independently of zoom level. Also the footer text in your screenshots seems to differ from what I am seeing:

Use the three stacked squares icon on the right hand side and switch to “Standard” map layer
Wow that did it, thank you.
Not sure why that was not selected. Had “MapTiler OMT” selected on both zen desktop + Firefox mobile. Is that the default?
OT: Should name be removed?

Yes, the fact that it’s a ghost bike is already expressed in the tags

Would it then have a name for who it commemorates?
The person it commemorates would go in the “subject” tag.
