Who do I contact to correct my username after a registration error?

Hello, I was creating my account and made a typo in my email. I, of course, can’t access an email I don’t own. I wouldn’t have an issue with that ‘cause I can just register with a different e-mail since I randomly generate them for miscellaneous social media and such. However, for some reason, it also claimed my username as “taken” before any potential owner of the typoed email would have had the time to not only see it but to then verify the account unless they were expecting it, had the site open, and was already typing it out. So, I just want to know if there’s any means by which I can have my username re-claimed and/or who I would speak to on the matter.

I’m hoping such a change is doable; since the account was only just created earlier today and is highly unlikely to be officially verified by another individual. The other email is the exact same as this accounts email but it ends in “.com” instead of “.net”. The username is practically identical to mine; sitting as just “UrUsrnameButBetr” without any added symbols or numbers.

I appoligize if this has already appeared within the F.A.Q. or the Terms Of Service. I checked them and didn’t see anything specific to my circumstances or I may have seen something that addresses my dilemma and simply misunderstood the answer or the questions wording and/or I didn’t read far enough into it.

According the the wiki page about OSM accounts:

I would assume it’s the same process if the email account was never correct in the first place.
