I used to add business tags to buildings, but now I add a separate node for the business. For example, a restaurant that’s in a detached house. I used to tag it like this:
Whereas now I tag it like this:
My reasoning behind this is that it makes it easier to differentiate the building and the business tags, which is super helpful when the restaurant closes and another one opens and now I have to know which tag is for the building and which is for the old restaurant (and I indeed went through this process when I separated all businesses from buildings in my area). For example with the situation above:
- What if another restaurant opens in that same building? I now have to separate all business tags from the building to create 2 new POIs.
- What if the restaurant closes? I now have to carefully remove only the restaurant tags from the building. With a node, one click, and it’s done.
