I am currently mapping an area in Sweden from areal imagery. My problem is that I want to add addresses to the houses but I don’t know where to source addresses.
I have tried Google Maps and Apple Maps but they give wrong addresses. I can’t do local surveys because I don’t live near the location.
I need some sort of address database where I can enter the coordinates and it provides me with the address.
Copying information from Google Maps to OSM is illegal due to licencing issues, so please don’t do it.
I don’t know about Apple Maps licences, but I know they use OSM data, so importing from there can lead to circular imports, even if it’s legal. It’s probably not, as far as I understand.
In Norway, there is addr2osm, which enables imports from official sources. I hope there is something similar in Sweden. If you don’t get a useful answer here, perhaps ask in the Swedish community!
As far as I know (not living in Sweden but mapping quite a bit there) this data is not yet available for use in OSM, but it might come in February 2025, so at the moment local knowledge and survey is needed.
You can check for housenumbers (if that is what you need) on https://minkarta.lantmateriet.se/ but we are not allowed to use the zoomlevel where this information is shown as source for OSM.
