Where is the "Humanitarian" map style issue tracker? -- Repository github.com/hotosm/HDM-CartoCSS mentioned in OSM wiki has been archived

Ahoj,

the OpenStreetMap wiki says that the “Humanitarian” rendering style is hosted at github.com/hotosm/HDM-CartoCSS.
However, that repository is archived since 2025-03-07.

Is the rendering style still maintained, and if so, where to address issues and feature wishes to?

I actually want to address the improvement suggestion to render area footways (highway=footway and area=yes). Currently, they are not rendered, making the map looking “broken”: Ways seemingly just ending in “nothing”.

Regards!

I don’t think it is being maintained any longer. See comment here: No highways labeled ok humanitarian map · Issue #342 · hotosm/HDM-CartoCSS · GitHub

But others may know differently.

Some of the story of this style and this server can be seen in this previous thread.

With regard to the style, you can of course fork it and host it yourself - the cost of hosting will vary from a couple of coffees a month for a map of a small area to perhaps a couple a day for the whole world.

The tile server of the layer that you see at osm.org is hosted by OpenStreetMap France. I don’t know what the long-term future of that is - I’d suggest privately contacting the person running the servers (prominent in that previous thread).

Status is unchanged: OSM France is still hosting the rendering, on a new server as the previous one was dead.

The stylesheet is not maintained and I just discovered the repo had been archived by HOT.

If someone wants to improve the style, maintain it, we can pull these changes on the rendering server.
