Then why we have crossing:island | Keys | OpenStreetMap Taginfo ?
And things like this seems to not be a superior mapping to me:
Also, what about cases where you have a single bollard? Or bollard line, especially flexible ones?

a single bollard is a bollard, it doesnāt create additional carriageways, a bollard line on the other hand, flexible or not, is a physical separation
On one day, many moons ago went to split all the on-off since there was the āphysical separationā. (some autostrada exit/entrances near Rome still have them, not mapped by me!). Thereās was this āoādearā and rather quick erasure again of my mappings. To make my point I mapped all the barriers, guard-rail and railings, AND area:highway=motorway (which does not render in Carto), since there are 1 or 2 routers that are actually able to compute a route on āomnidierectionalā areas. The situation on one of a few is this, roof included.
(telepass lanes are at centre, marked yellow)
What we know and what even shows up in JOSM is the *=link tag which describes it as ways that are solely there for routing purposes. Before discovering that tag Iād add virtual=yes on a hint of a mapper who spends lots of time on verifying and correcting uncommon/new keys and contacting on occasion to discuss offline.). Hereās a sample of the selectable value in JOSM
Think all the legit ingredients are in place to map with split ways with virtual routing and the ability to tag each lane with the type, card, tag, cash or a combo thereoff (we donāt have here lanes that change direction 180, only cash lanes that are shut depending on traffic intensity.
Anyway, what Iād like to know as one more piece is what tag value to use on a way and on a gantry/booth node for payment by Telepass. Is it payment:tag=yes (19 uses per TI), payment:contactless=yes payment:telemetry to be creative. I can then further my prepping to āimproveā things further. Right now thereās this, nothing indicating higher speed check out.
(*:cash to probably read *:coins)
Errata, just to show the JOSM edit view with the Lane/road attributes style activated, showing the tagged 7 lanes out and 3 lanes in, somewhat less wide than reality.
