what are these - image = 80n:dsc05486.jpg

I can see a few image image tags on the map near me.
An example is at http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/87172597

Where are these images?

Is this supposed to be used?

thanks

looks like someone has included references to images that were perhaps tied to a waypoint of a track. Have you tried asking whoever introduced it?

Would not be a bad idea - if OSM had a way to actually store or access the images but that does not seem to be the case.

I decided, after trying to read the history of a few of these, that I couldn’t tell who actually added them.
I found them as I was looking at Keep right.
http://keepright.ipax.at/report_map.php?zoom=13&lat=51.329922&lon=-0.472352
which reports them as ‘website’ warnings (red and white stripes)

My guess: http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/80n

Yes, 80n (a venerable OSMer of many years ago) used to tag these as references to photos he’d taken when surveying. You can remove them if you like, but there’s no point cluttering up the history removing them if you’re not making any other edits to the same objects.

Ah, that makes sense now. I shall leave them in peace.

thank you
