We have an problem..

Namaste everybody!

It´s well known, that many areas in Nepal are displaced after the earthquake.
We see it comparing the aerial images from 2016/2017 and recent map.

An example: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/39985908.
The map got chaotic, because new mapper uses always the aerial background for mapping of new elements.

We have no another choice that step by step moving of all elements on their new, proper position.

If we don´t do with time the chaos in Kathmandu would be more and more difficult to manage.
I think, effective method could be to divide Kathmandu in blocks and doing this huge work step by step: exactly like we do after earthquake.

I would recommend to speak with HOT and define task for that.

Best regards to all my nepali Friends and other Nepal helpers!

Marek

I think this is more due to the road expansion project that took place in Kathmandu and the use of different high resolution imagery during the earthquake which has an ofset compared to Bing.
Mapper ‘Nirab Pudasaini’ can create an OSM Task but it might be better to first try and get a higher temporal and spatial resolution imagery of Kathmandu.

Hello Gaurav, sounds good but the possibility to get a new aerial images for Kathmandu are, let´s say politically, limited.
You may use kite and camera to make images of Kathmandu. This may be simplier than the almost impossible permition of nepali government for capturing of aerial images by use of drones.
