Way simplified and disconnected from points along route

While reviewing my work in OSMose, I noticed that a waterway appears to have become simplified and disconnected from points along its route. The points are still along the route with no tags. Any ideas:

  1. How could this happen?
  2. How can I (easily) fix it without reattaching the new straight lines back to each point?

Could you link to the waterway? It might be possible to tell something from its changeset history.

Done half a dozen sinplifications on roundabouts a mapper thought they were not round enough, or another motive, and went about adding countless nodes, the record one ending up with 400. Surprisingly there were no close vertices alerts. At any rate after being done, the largest left with about 50 nodes, did not see any flare ways being disconnected. Osmose and OSMi would have warned for that the next day.
Done the returns to sanity with JOSM.

That was a stupid ommission from me. Now in OP, loop just north of centre of way shows the simplified area.

looking at Way History: ‪Tyao River‬ (‪203588123‬) | OpenStreetMap - maybe entire Changeset: 164390017 | OpenStreetMap should be reverted?

In JOSM select the river then revert the river only. The resolve any conflicts. The process can be easily messed up so I’ve done it for you.

Looking from the outside in, a river section right along the India-Myanmar Intl border with probably a dynamic lay. Is it the agreed borderline as now there are a few isolated landpockets both sides as for instance here.
