This weekend, March 1-2, 2025 I am hosting a virtual mapping party for Port Townsend, Washington, United States. It is a neat town with address info but few buildings and is in need of some attention. Learn more on the Wiki page!
The wiki instructions say “please conflate the address to the building when appropriate.” Does that mean to put the address tags onto the newly-drawn building (via iD “merge” or JOSM “Replace Geometry”), or it is trying to say to make sure the address node (which remains separate) should be roughly in the center of the building? I’ve seen different areas use different conventions, and I’m not sure what the word “conflate” is trying to mean here.
I shared a link to here in the Urbanist Shoreline Hackamapathon 2 event that I’m currently attending - and I encouraged folks to mark their changesets with “Review Requested” so please help our new friends along and provide mapping feedback!
