Usuarios editando en España bajo sospecha (vandalismo, malas prácticas y otros)

A previous account used by this person sent me an OSM PM. Rather than engage in personal messages I’ll reply here - I’m sure that the person who is continually being blocked for these undiscussed edits is reading:

What I have not seen from you is any attempt at understanding or discussing why certain names are used in certain places.

What I would suggest is that you take an example road in OSM (and make sure that you link to it by OSM ID, like https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/129767227/history ) and justify your edits to that road. Something like https://map.atownsend.org.uk/maps/osm-deep-history/#/way/129767227 makes it easy to visualise.

Your edits there have changed the the “name” tag from both Spanish and Catalan to Catalan only, and have removed “name:ca” altogether. You are claiming that no people who speak Catalan would use the name “Carrer de Vintem” to refer to this road. Do you really believe that? I’d like to see the evidence that backs that up.

With regard to the “name” tag provide a photo that shows that street sign in Spanish only**, and challenge the other side of the argument to come up with evidence that this particular street name should actually be in two languages.

** not a random collage
