In Limerick, most bus stops have no names, or named incorrectly or just wrong, I was making a mass edit script for names only to realize the licensing issue
TFI data for bus stops is CC-BY 4.0 which is a no without waiver Use of CC BY 4.0 licensed data in OpenStreetMap | OpenStreetMap Blog
I am a newbie so I wonder if the static data for stop names useable anyways (probably not)?
And whether there is any waiver already in place with TFI/NTA? I can’t see it on copyright page.

TFI is just a brand name for the National Transport Authority.
As OSM is critical as a background map for the journey planner, etc. I can see them agreeing to sharing some or most of the data. While they have the rights to the CIÉ companies’ data and their own data, they might not own some operators data.
Some issues include:
- A proportion of the individuals, within the CIÉ group especially and other operators generally, who are responsible for contributing data do not understand how to compile, test, share and review the data. Management and NTA will not hold them to account.
- Some individuals within the CIÉ group are deliberately subverting data, in particular RTPI data.
- Lots of places have spots where the bus stops, but there is nothing physical on the ground.
- Stop 4592, Finglas Village, Glasnevin - this should in no way be considered or associated with Glasnevin, which is 3 km away.

Thanks
I have prepared the boilerplate waiver to send
My initial goal is not to upload any stops that aren’t on OSM currently or modify the existing ones positionally.
I want to only use the stops data with the existing stops with the goal of giving them names and stop IDs for use in Photon search.
Did the Transport Authority get permission to use the names in the first place? I will bet €5 that 99% of the names they’re using for bus stops are existing names of things (streets, shops, villages, whatever) that have all mostly existed before the invention of the petrol combustion engine, never mind the bus company. #JustSayin
Oh you’re absolutely right, it’s a bit stupid bickering on something that in my view should absolutely public record and not encumbered by any license
But sadly rules are the rules
