Usage of curve:name and curve:ref

Kidding aside, it’s entirely possible that some named curves have lent their names to the surrounding area and vice versa. It isn’t unreasonable to map a place=locality in that case, but there should be some way to distinguish the two concepts. The same can happen with railway junctions and crossroads, but we don’t delete the switch or intersection in favor of the place node.

From pondering this topic, I just mapped this curve. As a node, while the feature itself may stretch for 50km in length. Waiting what the locals have to say. Curves come in knees, or meanders. In race tracks or downhill pistes, even straight sections can also have distinct names. I do not think, such and such can reasonably considered localities though.

Update: Maybe some sections of a piste might actually be worth a locality tag, curved or straight does not matter much.
