Greggs’ website used to be https://www.greggs.co.uk/ but it’s recently changed to https://www.greggs.com/ . As a result all the individual store pages that we have linked in OSM objects are redirecting to the new domain.
The old links are of the form https://www.greggs.co.uk/shop-finder?shop-code=0846 which redirect to https://www.greggs.com/shop-finder?shop-code=0846 . However, I’ve noticed that Greggs also have another page for each store in the form https://www.greggs.com/shops/thetford/13-17-king-street/0846.
The orignal style “/shop-finder” URLs can be discovered through the “Store Finder” on their website. I haven’t found a way to navigate to the new style “/shops” ones, but they seemed to be preferred by search engines - probably because they’re listed in the sitemap at https://www.greggs.com/sitemap.xml . I think the “/shops” links are slightly nicer pages for users.
Given that the URLs we have need updating anyway, now would be a good time to decide which of the two store pages we would prefer to link to from the website=* key in OSM. I can then let my Chains tool know, so it can flag any Greggs stores with differing URL patterns.
So which of the two page types do people think it woud be better for us to link to for Greggs?
