upload roads from linux

Hello,
I have linux on my pc.
Do you know any software that can download and upload to Open Street Map?

Thanks in advance.

The JOSM (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Josm) editor is written in Java, and works on Linux. I think Merkaator does as well, but I have no experience with it.

Thank you, I installed Josm.
But how can i see the yahoo aerial map there?

there are more infos in the wiki:

have a look there at JOSM → Plugins → WMS Plugin

You have to install this plugin (among other useful ones) to see the yahoo maps in JOSM

Tell us when you have success … or why not …

I installed the WMS plugin.
To display the map i press WMS->open aerial map, but the map is not clear.

How can i put a clear map behind of the roads?

Select your data layer in the layers list.

Cheers

I select the layer but the map has very low resolution.
It is like you do a very quick zoom in the satellite mode of google maps but in my case Josm doesn’t reload the map.

The Open Aerial Map is mostly a fairly low resolution map, based on Landsat etc, and is not the same as the Yahoo aerial maps. To use the Yahoo aerial maps you probably need to install some extra software, ie Webkit or gnome-web-photo as well as the WMS plugin.
Instructions for this in the wiki: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Plugins/WMSPlugin#Installing_Yahoo.21_aerial_imagery_downloader_.28new.29

My bad… misunderstood completely. :frowning:

In some parts of the world OAM, Yahoo and Landsat are equally bad.
