I came across an edit locally to me made an edit from MapRoulette
The error they had made was by turning what is clearly a staggered junction into a crossroads. In this case the stoplines are directly opposite. I have commented and reverted this edit.
Another mapper has also made similar comments.
I would question the criteria of 3.7 meters (spelling?) as this is closer to the width of 2 lanes, not one.
3.7m will in my experience result in a lot of false positives in Europe.
Agreed that many of the remaining flagged locations are non-issues. The problem with tasking managers like this is sometimes people can feel like they have to make a change at every location, even if nothing actually needs fixing.
A large portion of this maproulette challenge has already been completed - there could be a lot of similar quality edits. The changeset you refer to is Changeset: 186042826 | OpenStreetMap , this was done by whitepanda who has 583 points from this project. It’s likely a lot of previous edits introduced similar edits, but this remains to be seen.
The potential for incorrect edits with a challenge like this seems obvious, and I’m sure it would have been spotted by many experienced mappers had the UK community been consulted on this before it was launched.
With reference to the Organised Editing Guidelines I hope someone from TomTom (who set up the MapRoulette Challenge) can comment here on why there was no consultation on this task, and what they’re now going to do to review edits to the junctions they flagged…

Can I suggest that TomTom review how it deals with two T-junctions from the same side of the road?
This challenge 356118120 - Task - United Kingdom - Very Close Junctions - Challenge - MapRoulette suggests merging the junctions of two shared driveways (both mapped as highway=residential): that join a main road here: Node: 13523941470 | OpenStreetMap
While this example might not be a serious issue, in other examples it could cause problems, especially at roundabouts, where routing software could suggest one can go from one street to the other without using the roundabout. Osmose calls this a “Roundabout shortcut” - item “3010 highway roundabout” class 3.

We paused activities for our internal mappers and made the challenge undiscoverable last Friday. Now, we’ve also paused it for external mappers who got the direct link.
