We’re excited to announce an upcoming organized editing initiative by Uber focused on improving pedestrian-related map data around a small set of key venues in the United States.
As an initial phase, we plan to work on the following three venues:
- University of California, Los Angeles
- Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville
- California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
The objective of this project is to improve pedestrian map data around these venues to support more accurate pedestrian navigation.
We will begin editing after giving the community time to review this announcement and provide feedback. We expect the work for these three venues to be completed within approximately one week.
This is the first phase of a broader project covering approximately around 100 venues across the United States. Before beginning work on each subsequent set of venues, we will notify the community in advance and share the locations planned for that phase.

To help illustrate the types of improvements we plan to make, below are a few representative examples from the initial set of venues. These examples are intended to show the kinds of pedestrian mapping issues we will review, such as missing sidewalks, pedestrian paths, crossings, entrances, exits, and connectivity. All edits will be verified with the available aerial imagery before they are made
