As well as contributing to OSM, I am also involved in the Torbay Tinkerers, while this is mostly computing / electronics. I am reaching out to propose using the STEAM café in Paignton as a possible OSM meet up venue.

In the first instance, perhaps meet up at the same time as the Tinkerers on the 4th Saturday of the month, 9:30 and see if anything can come from that with regard to regular meetings.

It would be a good way to meet other local users, get help and also help others, promote OSM and perhaps pool more local knowledge, so the maps can be updated. There are a few of the OSM postcards at the café, so perhaps create some sort of ‘hub’ in Paignton, then over time others elsewhere.

“If you build it, they will (might) come”

Difficult to know whether people will come along. Depends whether they are sociable and know about the event.

Only one way to find out…

Hi Jez

Good point, the tinkerers meet up at that time anyway so we will be there, experimenting with robots or other projects, we are usually in the back, where the discvery centre is.

If there is interest we can take it from there.

Lets see what happens.
