Hi All,
TomTom has a new MapRoulette challenge to share for Canada - Connectivity and Geometry Issues on Highways with 487 tasks.
This challenge covers several related issues to improve road network connectivity and geometry:
- Isolated highways: highway geometry not connected to the surrounding network.
- Improper highway junctions: an end node within 2 meters of another highway with no valid connection, or a segment shorter than 0.5 meters at a junction.
- Duplicated or overlapping highways: ways duplicated in the same location or within a 0.5 meter buffer.
- Incorrectly connected roundabouts: shared exit/entrance nodes or superfluous connectors near roundabouts.
- Sharp angles and very short ways: spikes or zigzags at intersections.
Pedestrian, cyclist, and track-related roads are excluded from this challenge, and known valid situations involving bridges, tunnels, and layer separation were filtered out. Below is an example of a task involving overlapping highways.
As always, you may still encounter false positives, so feel free to mark those tasks as Already Fixed or Not an Issue as needed.
Thanks for taking a look, and feel free to reach out here with questions or feedback.
David
