Our site was blocked from the tile servers, correctly. Reviewing our code we found we were violating the policy in several ways: we used the retired {s} shard subdomains, we geocoded in a loop from the browser (one Nominatim request per listing shown), we ran search-as-you-type against Nominatim, and we reverse-geocoded roughly 4–5 times a second while the map was panned. That was our error and we’re sorry for the load it put on volunteer-run servers.
We’ve now moved all basemap tiles and all geocoding to a commercial provider. Geocoding runs server-side behind a cache and a rate limit; nothing in our front end contacts OSM infrastructure anymore. We continue to credit OpenStreetMap contributors on every map.
Flagging it here for the record rather than to request anything.
