The great OSM DE mystery

Hi, my preferred route planner utilising OSM for my on/off rd motorcycle trips is from a company called KURVIGER. Many of the roads/tracks I edit on OSM, I actually ride.

Kurviger has a drop-down list of maps.one of these was OSM de. For some strange reason recently, they discontinued it for unclear reasons.

As some are surely aware, the advantage of using this map is that it uses dual language, local language and English underneath for town and village names etc.

I had a look round on the web for route planner with OSM de and cannot find one from any company that uses OSM DE.

Does anybody know why this is and of course leads to the second question is when you edit OSM why is this map not available (at least as far as I can see it’s not)

I am sure there must be some logical explanation for all this, especially as I thought OSM is centred in Germany??

Are you referring to openstreetmap.de when you write “OSM de”?

https://karte.openstreetmap.de still exists.

And no: OSM is not centered in Germany.

On the kurviger support forum they say it’s no longer compatible…

Tiles on openstreetmap.de are provided by FOSSGIS and made available under the conditions outlined here Nutzungsbedingungen OSM-Server des FOSSGIS e.V. – FOSSGIS - as far as I am aware kurviger.de was not explicitly blocked but it is possible that the makers of kurviger.de read the conditions and determined that it was not a match with their use case.

I checked the terms and conditions with the link you kindly provided and I can also see that it is unlikely any GPS route planner would meet the conditions required. This is a pity because it’s a very good map as I mentioned before containing dual language. However, My Greek is good enough to continue using the default osm. I will mark the solution as solved.
