I’m looking for Android testers for Restroom Critic, a free app for finding and rating public restrooms. The tagline is “Know before you go.” … it is a solo hobby project.
What it is:
- A worldwide restroom map seeded from OpenStreetMap toilet data.
- Anonymous-first: you can browse, rate (Cleanliness, Privacy, Upkeep), confirm details, and report problems without creating an account. Signing in is optional and only needed for adding new locations and leaving notes.
- Rendering is MapLibre with OpenFreeMap tiles, so no Google Maps and no tracking baked into the map layer.
What it is not (yet): the app does not edit OpenStreetMap. Ratings and confirmations stay in the app’s own database. Feeding useful signals back to OSM (for example via notes) is something I’d like to explore later, and I’d welcome opinions from this community on what would actually be useful versus noise.
What I need: Google Play requires a closed test with at least 12 testers opted in for 14 continuous days before the app can go public. So I’m looking for people who will:
