Hey y’all, when looking for something to do for the day or even planning out trips on the road, I often find myself struggling to conveniently find pet-friendly spaces my dog and I can visit. Obviously, areas specifically marked dog_park or dog=yes are fair game but is there a more general tagging scheme I am missing on the wiki for a pet friendly location. In the southeastern US, many chains (Tractor Supply, Petsmart, etc.) and small businesses welcome pets with a sign on the door but the assumption should be service animals only unless they have such a sign.
I think that’s the key - some sort of verifiable signage. Previous _friendly suggestions have had pushback because you were supposed to tell from the ambience of the place whether it was “ABC friendly” or not, but a sign on the door is clearly verifiable.
Does this also apply to, say, a pet-friendly hotel where it’s posted pet-friendly (perhaps with an additional fee) but would not apply solely to dog=*?
The key pets=* is sometimes used to indicate whether a feature or venue, such as a restaurant, cafe, mall, hotel, or beach allows pets to accompany their owners or sitters.
