Is there a consensus on tagging community cafes or restaurants which offer “pay-as-you-feel” pricing on some of their products? As an example, today I surveyed this cafe in leeds which operates as a priced business but also provides such a scheme. A similar place might be Planet Food, York. Are these considered to be under the purview of social_facility=soup_kitchen, or is a tag alongside amenity more appropriate?
Relatedly, is there a tagging convention for facilities which are or provide warm spaces?
I think OSM is very amenable to this kind of data and the data model is highly conducive to access for those most in need of these provisions.
I was curious what I had mapped on a PAYF café that I knew.
It has “fee=Pay As You Feel” and then a load of accepted payment methods.
I was thinking “payment:payf=yes” or “payment:pat_as_you_feel=yes” might be good.
They are not soup kitchens. The sign I like best there is “Food is valuable, and so are you. Pay with your time, your money, or your services”. So even if you can’t afford to pay with money, you would be expected to volunteer (like cleaning dishes/cooking/serving), or with some skill you have like playing the piano.
