Tagging a disused/abandoned orchard

I have an area that’s currently tagged as natural=wood, with leaf_type=mixed. In reality it’s a disused/abandoned cherry orchard, but it’s still mostly comprised of cherry trees.

Should this be tagged with a lifecycle prefix like disused:landuse=orchard? I’m not completely sure if it’s disused or abandoned since it is fairly overgrown but the trees still bear fruit. If it’s tagged like this, do I tag the tree type with trees=cherry_trees or taxon=…?

As a geographic feature it just matters that it’s a wooded area, but it’s very distinct from the local oak, ash, birch, etc.

So, If the trees still exists and having fruits why set to disused or abandoned?

If it is overgrown and non- orchard scrub and trees are growing there then I would tag it as disused even if the old orchard trees are still bearing fruit.

Maybe something linke

natural=scrub
disused:landuse=orchard
note=this is an abandoned cherry orchard. Please leave the disused tags until the trees are gone

is close to reality?

Do you have photo?

In my area there are orchards so abandoned* that landuse=forest tagging is viable.

*Settlements abandoned since communist regime resettled people after WW II.

I should’ve clarified, the fruit is no longer harvested and access tracks have been removed. I suppose it’s more abandoned than disused in that you’d need to clear new tracks and remove fallen trees and undergrowth before it could be used again. But it’s definitely natural=wood rather than scrub.

description=This used to be a cherry orchard. Most of the trees are still cherry trees.
