I’m a Syrian OSM user. The Syrian map is quite old and needs to be rehabilitated. Satellite snapshots are old because Satellite is restricted in Syria and the restriction still not repealed. I can provide REAL current road data for safer and accurate trips. I need your help to rehabilitate the map and happy to help you providing the real data.
My message ought to be broad to reach even OSM administrators. We are talking about a whole country map to be rehabilitated.
Proof: I can speak Levant Arabic without translations and have numerous recent exclusive images about the roads in Syria.
Actually, Omran created a thread about remapping Syria and I saw the thread. But the thread is dead and his work concerns about buildings in certain areas. My thread is about central roads to avoid misleadings.
You may want to consider uploading your photos to a service like Panoramax, Mapillary, or KartaView. I’m not sure how many people will see them on the forums, and I think something (the forum software?) has stripped the location metadata that would make them useful for mapping.
That’s true. But these are proof images for confirmation. I have tons of images to share. These uploaded images are not labeled and uploaded it just for proof because everyone can do it as a trick and manipulate the map unexpectedly and gets banned later for obvious reasons.

Mapillary is determined for uploading overland road images. There were some images in Mapillary captured by random Syrian users located in the main international motorways. How does this action help you contribute the map. There are few contributors supporting the Syrian map, despite the eventual removal of latest U.S sanctions. This allows collaboration and broader support. How can you help us rehabilitating the map?
Let’s understand the numbering system: Arab Mashreq International Road Agreement is applied on Syria since 2001. Public Establishment of Road Communications (PERC) determined M- routes, while M5 and M4 terms are well-known but not legal. Therefore, PERC does not acknowledge M5 and M4 terms and should be changed from the map.

These terms are abbreviations of Motorway (1-2-4-5), which are replacements of the equivalent old roads (1-2-4-5) created in 1960s and beyond. The need of the motorways is being fulfilled recently but not named officially but SPECULATED by media. They are not official and draws incorrect and misleading routes.
What can you help?
Removing M- routes and replacing it instead with Mashreq routes until a new numbering system is revealed. The map is significantly outdated. I can help you provide images using Mapillary but cannot modify these enormous edits myself. Adjusting the routes optimizes trip times significantly.
