Synchronize works of contributors in an OSM area

Hi everyOne,

I should thank you very much for the OpenStreetMap solution. It is a great
thing that let many people to do research without barriers.

Secondly, I observed that works of contributors is not integrated in my downloads in real time.
So a question comes if there is some efficient ways to download and control works of collaborators
on an specific area only with OSM without using Task Manager (it seems you have to pay to get
a Task Project Manager rights)

Another question, if I have two maps of two contributors on the same area, what methods to use to merge them
without having content conflicts, if I can use a git repository for that, or JOSM or something else.

Thank you very much for the answers.

Can you explain a little bit more about what you’re saying there? What are you downloading from where and what are you expecting to see in it that you do not?

Depending on where you’re downloading from, you may see a delay while a third-party does some processing to the data. If you just want OSM data and want a real-time feeed to update it, have a look at https://switch2osm.org/serving-tiles/updating-as-people-edit/ for one way to do that. That updates a rendering database, which is a use you’re probably not interested in, but that data you may well be.

I’m confused by 2 things here:

  1. What does Task Manager have to do with downloads of OSM data? Are you taling about the task managers used at e.g. https://tasks.hotosm.org/ or something else?

  2. Where do you “have to pay to get Task Project Manager rights”?

The general answer is “try and update OSM online as soon as possible”. If you have to work offline you can edit using JOSM and use JOSM’s tools to reconcile your changes with what other people have uploaded to OSM. However, it’s worth you explaining why you have “two maps of two contributors on the same area” - is it because they’re necessarily working offline?

Hi,

Thank you very much for the answers,

I think you answerd the question, it is about the delay. for the https://switch2osm.org/serving-tiles/up … ople-edit/ solution, I think it could be a nice way.

Are you taling about the task managers used at e.g. https://tasks.hotosm.org/ or something else?

Yes, After some reading , I got that their services have to be paid when you have to get the control (be a Task Project Manager)
on an OSM Project.

However, it’s worth you explaining why you have “two maps of two contributors on the same area” - is it because they’re necessarily working offline?

Yes that’s it, and to merge works of these contributors with having to upload it on OSM server, what tools to use for that ?
You can ask why not to upload to OSM ? this is for not to share invalid data relating to positions, one of the works we are doing is not neccessary an exact work, for example, position of bus stations (lack of data) are not exact. however, because of the neccessity, we should place bus stations even if it are not correclty placed.

Thanks for the comments.
Best regards.
