Swimming icon on map layer

Hi OSM Experts,

We use mapbox for our website https://www.emergency.wa.gov.au/

We started noticing the swimming pool icon on our website as per the below.

Could you kindly advise if this a layer already available in OSM?

If yes, why is that its only showing up on specific locations.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Suvarna

apparently this map style shows private swimming pools this way?

is there reason to expect that they are not present there?

Thank you for your response. Apologies for my ignorance.

Why is that then the private pools are not showing for all the locations and only some?

You’d have to ask Mapbox about that. It’s up to them how data is rendered, they may be ignoring access tags on swimming pools.

Same as with a lot of things OSM, it may well depend on whether or not they’ve actually been added!

Could you please give us an example/s of somewhere that you know pools exist but aren’t being shown?

Hello,

Some areas that are not shown but has a pool are in suburb Hammond park or wellard.

Suvarna

Thanks!

Yep, when you look at imagery here (this is Google as you may not be able to see our Bing imagery?), you can see a tight cluster of several pools: Google Maps

But OSM doesn’t have any of them yet mapped: OpenStreetMap

We would love to have pools mapped, especially in bush fire prone areas, where they can be invaluable for firies, both ground & choppers, but unfortunately, it’s always the same problem - too many features, too few mappers!

Appreciate your response. Thank You.

If the issue is that they don’t appear, map them in OSM and they’ll appear!
