Street number

Hi, currently it seems impossible to search a place by street number in OSM. I wonder if street number information is available, so that we can allocate a place by dynamic segmentation. The idea works as follows. Suppose we know total number (say, 10) of a street (Kingsroad), then we can approximately allocate kingsroad 5 at the middle of the street. Does it make sense?

Are you talking about house numbering?
OSM already has some schemes for this, one is gaining widespread usage (Karlsruhe Schema).
