Strange mismatch between ID and data-view on website

Bit of a strange thing here. I noticed a local shop was missing from the map, but I am almost certain it was previously present. The building itself is on the map, and in the ID editor it claims that I was the last person to edit it 58 days ago (which corresponds with my own recollection).

However clicking the link to view the way ( Way History: 1104395913 | OpenStreetMap ) shows something completely different. It says the building was last edited 94 days ago by an import, and the tag data shown in the changeset corresponds with the tag data currently present on the object and what is being rendered.

Two further strange things about this are that if the shop wasn’t shown at the time of my last edit (58 days ago) I would have added the shop (I added the waste bin present at the entrance of the shop at that time), and I quite clearly remember the map showing the shop at the time. It’s almost as though the way has been replaced by an older version but the ID editor is showing a mix of the current data with my newer changeset still credited.

However I don’t think I did add any shop tags at that time, as they already were present (but no longer are/apparently never were) I do remember updating the geometry however but the public change data doesn’t show me ever editing this way.

Possibly a silly question, but was your final change in iD actually uploaded to OSM? Perhaps you only save the bin, but not the shop (as a POI)? I only see the same feature history as you ( version 3 28/04/2026 14:20)

I would have added the shop tags to the building because the whole building is the shop. But I also don’t think I made any change to the tags at that time because it was already tagged as a shop. I do remember altering the geometry slightly.

However, just to make it clear - ID hasn’t re-loaded a stale, uncommitted changeset, because I’ve made lots of edits since that time on this device. ID is showing (see screenshot) that I last changed this way but the website is showing something different. It’s like the public history has been altered.

Adrian, what do you see if you try to edit that way in ID? Do you see “Last touched 58 days ago by Alex McKee” or do you see something different?

Osm website lists only edits to a way, while iD also takes into account node edits

Maybe one of nodes was moved or retagged? Which does influence way/area but does not edit it

Well done Mateusz, that’s it indeed: Node: 10106184534 | OpenStreetMap

I can see I edited the nodes (as I recollected, changing the geometry). I must have thought the shop was tagged when it apparently wasn’t. Mystery solved!
