Hello everyone!
New to working with OSM, but now unfortunately I seem to be running into an error when trying to view the standard layer while at university. All other layers seem to work, but when I go into the standard layer all tiles are grey.
I looked into the responses of the GET requests, and the error is shown as “Unavailable at OSMF Board request.” Looked at the record of people having similar issues, and it seems like sometimes the OSMF blocks people who try to abuse the servers.
I’ve never tried to mass-download tiles or abuse the system in any way, and in fact it’s my first time using OSM in quite a while. Would it be possible to unblock the address, or if the cause is different, what could be the problem here?
If this happens on your university wifi, it could mean that someone from that university historically abused the API and got the IP address blocked. I assume this block doesn’t happen when you’re connected to a different network?
Maybe there is a way to check what the block reason was (and when it was blocked) if you give the IP address, but I wouldn’t know who to ask.
Yes, I am in Russia. From what I’ve seen though (Tile Usage Policy) is that OSM thankfully doesn’t do a blanket ban on Russian users, but only flags when there’s signs of abuse.
