Split a track into two separate parts

Is there a facility in any of the editors to split a track into 2 separate parts? There is a site I have been working on where the track is actually mostly a path, but I would like to keep the points where they are rather than remove them, then have to add them back again.

I discovered that if you right click in the default in-browser editor (iD) it brings up a menu which has an option to split lines, which did the job
