Special Tesla Supercharger Naming in Norway and Sweden

Hey

I started to have a look into charging infrastructure and noticed that nearly all Superchargers in Norway and Sweden are mapped with a slightly out of “standard” name.

In Sweden and Norway, superchargers are called Tesla *location* Supercharger vs *location* Supercharger in the rest of the world.

Here’s a query that finds most of them (and some destination chargers)

Here’s the wiki page that describes the “standard” naming.
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dcharging_station/Tesla_Motors

which is as follows:

  • name=*Official Name* Supercharger

Now my question. Is this on purpose? If so, you might want to update the wiki. If not, I have never done an automated edit, but it should be pretty simple.

Yes, “Tesla” is included in the name=* tag on purpose. Most charging stations (and fuel stations) in OSM include the brand name in the name=* tag.

Approx. 60% of superchargers in OSM have “Tesla” in the name=* tag.

The wiki page which you refer to is outdated. A large number of Tesla superchargers in many countries have “Tesla” in the name=* tag even if the wiki tables says otherwise. I think the wiki page should be deleted to avoid conflicts with Tag:amenity=charging_station - OpenStreetMap Wiki.
