Hello, Andy from the DWG here. We’ve been asked by someone to “intervene” in this dispute, However, I don’t think that would help. Normally we’d suggest that people discuss things more within the community, but we’re well aware that there has been a lot of discussion already, and there surely can’t be much more to say.
What we can suggest is as follows:
- However you decide national classifications there will always be edge cases. That will be the case whatever rules you put in place.
- Try and capture more tags on roads, so that if data consumers want to look beyond the
highwaytag for classification, they can. - (to anyone who thinks that the majority is “wrong”) regardless of tagging, try and make the maps that you want to make. This will really help to understand exactly what is in OSM right now.
