Similar message for different countries - how to post?

Hi,

I posted a message on the Portuguese community thread:

This is a European project I’m working on (outside of OSM), but essentially it’s something that needs to be parsed (or not) by local communities. I would like to post the same message in the other active countries where it is applicable (Hungary, Romania, Poland) and gradually also to the other countries that I parse.

What would be the best approach for this?

Maybe it should be considered a meta question for how to use Discourse 🐞 This forum issues and requests - OpenStreetMap Community Forum
I suppose you can only manually post this to every one of them. There’s no Europe, continent, or any subcategory. Basically the same as how old forums work.

Yes, I know… but when I tried to post the same message in a second category, I get a refusal because the message is too similar.

Could cheat a bit by rewording it every time, but that doesn’t make sense to me.

No discourse power user here, but I would create one single topic in the “General Talk” section.

You can try tagging the respective countries with hashtags, e.g. users: Albania
But I’m not sure what the effect of this is, but you could just try it out.

A thread for the whole topic would have a few advantages for me. You can consolidate communication about your code in one place. It’s true that specific questions about a country then mix the thread, but do you have to assume that there will be controversy? Some of the countries you listed are not even active here - see Albania. And if new countries are added, you can simply post an update.

Sidenote: in Hungary, due to the official regulation of the .HU domain it is with extremely high probability that the <settlement name>.hu name is the official name of the settlement, if exists. (There are about five exceptions or so, mainly due to registrations before the rule.)

Thanks, that’s useful information!
