For those who are interested, Tom Scott just uploaded a video pointing out the quirks of addresses in Mannheim. He essentially says that Google and Microsoft get it wrong, Apple gets it very wrong, and OSM gets it almost right.

Maps.me is displaying the squares numbers I noticed a couple of weeks ago.
