I came by sheer coincidence by this cycleway it is tagged as a tunnel. Somehow this appears to me as not correct. I believe only the part going under the taxiway should be tunnel. Am I correct about this?

Only part that is in a tunnel should be tagged as being in a tunnel.

Typically this requires splitting way into parts.

Hi, The layer tag should be removed as the cycleway is layer=0. It, the cycleway, already goes under two bridges tagged as layer=1. Then the runway should be split so a bridge can be added to it as layer=1 which I’ve done. There is already another bridge on the runway, now there are two.

I am sorry to say but it all looks a bit of a mess to me now.

What I see:

  • The layer tag is removed, but the tunnel is not
  • The road next to the cycleway (secondary, ref 273) also has layer removed but tunnel kept. Rendering a tunnel underneath a bridge.
  • On both sides of the taxiway I see retaining walls directly next to the road/cycleway which to me makes the bridge in the taxiway as it is now way to long?

And I am wondering if this should be a bridge in the taxiway or a tunnel (or tunnels) in the road/cycleway. From the wiki entry key:tunnel

For some grade separated crossings it may however be debatable if the lower way is in the tunnel or if the upper way is on a bridge=*. In general, if the lower way is long and surrounded by earth it is almost certainly a tunnel; and if the lower way is short and the upper way is supported on concrete, brick on metal pillars and beams then that is almost certainly a bridge. There are however situations where it is a matter of personal judgement, but it is preferred to either tag the lower way as tunnel or the upper way as a bridge, but not both.

To me the lower way looks like long and surrounded by earth.

Hi, Sorry, a glitch here, the tunnel tag is now removed.

I think the bridges as they are is better because there are 7 highways going under the taxiway.

I have taken the liberty:

  • to replace the tunnel=yes at the secondary with covered=yes
  • add covered=yes to the cycleway under the taxiway
  • add man_made=bridge and the wall between secondary and cycleway
  • shorten the bridge of the taxiway

I hope this fits now
