“Federal government office” is more of a description than an actual term. Sometimes agencies like the IRS, CBP, or FBI have standalone offices, which are just like any other government office. The name suggestion index already has entries for several of these agencies. Also, federal courts often have their own courthouses. In other cases, they’re all colocated into a federal building, which usually has that in the name.
Federal building is the usual US term.
would it be then a good idea for “federal building” to find government=office POI?
(sounds weird, but languages have weirder things)
I guess so. Technically a federal building would be a building=office office=government, not just an office=government, with a bunch of office=government nodes inside for each of the colocated agency offices. But at least iD will avoid stripping building=yes from the area when selecting the Government Office preset.
Or maybe “federal” should match government=office? After all, people will type into search, not paste.
“Federal building” maybe will not match, but that would be even better.
